Breaking news: An old Pune bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed on 15 June 2025 at around 4 pm. More than 125 tourists fell into the river, and two people deceased. This shocking incident occurred at the Kundamala area, which is a picnic spot. Now there is a rescue operation going on.
As of now, it has been confirmed that two people are deceased and more than 20 people swept away by the strong Indrayani River current. It has also been reported that there was heavy rainfall, and the water level also rose.
As reported by the official, many other people are still missing, and the search operation is ongoing.
Efforts to rescue have been going on by the National Disaster Response Force NDRF, the Fire Service, Police, and other local volunteers.
In the rescue operation, 7 people are being rescued and they are also being taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. It is also believed that around 15 people may be trapped in the debris.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra state, CM Devendra Fadnavis, stated in the media that 32 people of 6 in critical condition. He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.
Moreover, MLA of the Maval, Sunil Shelke, also stated in the media that this Indrayani iron bridge is 30 years old and at the time of the collapse, there were around 100 people on the bridge.
MP Supriya Sule also stated on the news that the hospital and the doctors are conducting treatment of the injured person at their best level. She also expressed her condolences to the victims of the shocking incident.
On hearing this shocking news, the PM of India, Narendra Modi, also talked to Devendra Fadnavis about the incident and directed him to assist those affected by the bridge collapse.
Furthermore CM of Maharashtra stated in the media that a sum of Rs 5 lakhs will be provided as financial assistance to the family of the deceased in the bridge collapse. Along with this, he also stated that the state government will bear the cost of the treatment of the injured person.
The Indian Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed that he was deeply saddened by this tragic incident and also talked with the CM of Maharashtra about the present situation of the bridge collapse

It has been reported by the local people that the bridge was an old iron bridge, and the collapse occurred due to a heavy crowd. During the time of collapse, there was no rainfall on the spot, but due to the previous day’s rainfall, the river water speed increased and rose in volume too.
