ON this day, with one of my friends, we just got out of the house in the early morning before 7 am and started the trip to Waikhong on the Mayai Lambi road.
A summary of the Journey preparation to Waikhong Nightou Manai Hills
I planned this picnic with the editor and other supporters of this blog. The day before, we packed everything from paper plates and cooking utensils to vegetables for lunch, plus cleaned and checked the vehicle.
The preparation also utilized weatehr forecastign reports and it was on 30th spetember it rpedicted raingfall for 4 hours on this day but by luckigly at waikhong no rainfailmre ceived till 5 pm but in the imphal city regions and toher places the rain arrived at arounf 1 pm apprx.
In the journey, we first had lunch with PURI ON THE street and started driving the Santro car. ON the way to the Sugnu Myanmar Road NH 102, WE FILL THE PETROL at Hiyangthang and drove again. It was a long journey; after Hiyangthang, places like Angoim, Mayang Imphal, Hiyanglam, Wangabai, Langmeidon, Thongjao, and Waikhong are there. On our way to the Waikhong one, the best destination most people stopped for shopping is the Wangabai Bazar Lamkhai, where you can get food, rice, and vegetables also. We also stopped at that point for a while for a coffee and then started for the night market. After almost 1 hour of driving, we reached the Waikhong Ningthou Manai.
What did we find in the Ningthou Manai Hills?
As we reached these hills, the first thing we did was find a spot to prepare lunch. As cooking on fire needs wood, I went out to search for wood in the hills and found multiple different mushrooms, which included both edible and non-edible mushrooms. The edible mushrooms we found included Uchan uyen and Khomdrokpi in the local language.
Check the video below of the wild mushrooms we found in the Waikhong hills of Manipur India, located on the Sugnu Burma Road
However, amongst the non-edible mushrooms found in the hills, if an expert comes and examines the varieties, it is expected to be very helpful in the field of mushroom studies. Not only the mushrooms we found but also varieties of plant species have also been found growing there for a long duration of time.
